Nature Calls Dog Walking & Hiking is looking for Part-Time Dog Walkers!

Our part-time Dog Walker position offers fun, fulfilling work and flexible hours. Make extra income and meet furry new friends, while getting exercise and spending your day outside in nature.

The dogs need you to:

  • Pay them a visit at their house
  • Take them for a walk around the block, throw their favorite ball, and give them lots of belly rubs
  • Clean up after them 🙂
  • Treats, food, and water, please!
  • Send their parents a message about all the fun you had during your visit

When the dogs need you:

  • Walks are scheduled between 10am-3pm, Monday-Friday
  • Walks are scheduled within visit blocks so there is a bit of flexibility with visit times
  • This is an as-needed position. You may be needed to work this entire block, but if the schedule is not full, your day will be shorter. There may be days with no walks at all.

What we are looking for in our Dog Walkers:

  • 1+ year of professional pet care experience (kennel, daycare, veterinary, etc.) preferred, but we will consider the right candidate that has owned a dog for at least 5 years
  • You must be enthusiastic, caring, compassionate and willing to go the extra mile to keep our Clients and their pets happy
  • You must be detail-oriented, and willing to follow all Client instructions and preferences regarding their pet
  • You must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurance for your vehicle
  • You must have a smartphone (Apple or Android) with the ability to take pictures, get text/email, and download/learn to use our app (Time to Pet) and Discord
  • You must be comfortable walking outdoors in all types of weather
  • You must be able to handle dogs of all breeds/sizes
  • You must be able to lift large bags of pet food up to 50 pounds
  • You must live in (or adjacent to) our service area: Rollinsford, Dover, Somersworth, Berwick, or South Berwick

Potential Challenges (Hey, they're dogs!):

  • You may have to clean up unpleasant pet messes such as muddy dogs, vomit, diarrhea, chewed up couch cushions, etc
  • Dogs need to get outside to potty every day, including days with rain, ice/snow, sleet and hail so you will be outside in less-than-ideal weather (although we limit outdoor time in inclement weather)
  • Although rare, you may encounter an emergency situation that could require transportation of the pet to an emergency veterinarian
  • You may need to remove external parasites (ticks) from pets

Opportunities for Advancement:

  • You may be considered for a Pet Sitting or Dog Hiking position
  • You may be invited to perform other duties to help with the business based on your skillset such as local promotional events, social media posts, etc

Compensation:

  • Pay is per visit:
    • $6 per 20 min visit
    • $8 each 30 minute visit
    • $12 each 45 minute visit
    • $16 each 60 minute visit
    • $20 each 75 minute visit
    • $24 each 90 minute visit
  • Gas allowance
  • Paid training
  • Yearly allowance for CE
  • Paid Pet CPR Certification
  • We provide all necessary supplies for use during visits
  • You may be eligible for a $500 Return to Work Bonus from the State of NH https://www.unemploymentbenefits.nh.gov/new-summer-stipend-program-return-work-bonus
